DOUG LATTUCA, FPHL BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR
Binghamton, NY – The Federal Prospects Hockey League today announces its selection for the FPHL Broadcaster of the Year. This Award of Excellence for Broadcasting is determined in a vote of league broadcasters and media relations directors across the league. These selections are from a voting process by (2) representatives from each FPHL member club and then a verification by the FPHL League Staff.
The FPHL Congratulates Doug Lattuca as the 2024-25 FPHL Broadcaster of the Year. Lattuca is the Director of Communications & Broadcasting for the Danbury Hat Tricks.
Lattuca, who has called over 95 Hat Tricks games across the past two seasons, serves as the sole full-time member of the team’s media department. As the voice of the Hat Tricks, he delivers a polished, energetic, and insightful broadcast every game—home or away—bringing fans closer to the action with every call.
Beyond the booth, Lattuca manages the team’s social media channels, website, and digital content, while also writing press releases, conducting interviews, and producing custom graphics for digital, game day, and in-arena use. He maintains the team’s media guide, game notes, and line charts, oversees the team’s historical scoring records, leads the Hat Tricks Kids Club, mentors a group of media interns, and runs a newsletter that reaches over 24,000 subscribers multiple times a week. His all-around contributions have made him an invaluable part of the organization’s success both on and off the ice.
“Being named FPHL Broadcaster of the Year is an incredible honor,” Lattuca said. “There are so many skilled broadcasters in this league and to be chosen for this award is truly special. Thank you to the league and the Hat Tricks’ organization and fans for their unwavering support since I got to Danbury in 2023.”
“Doug winning the FPHL Broadcaster of the Year is a testament to his passion, professionalism, and relentless work ethic,” Team President Herm Sorcher said. “As the voice of the Hat Tricks, he has not only elevated our broadcasts but has played a vital role in connecting with our fans and building our brand. We are incredibly proud to have Doug as a key member of our team, and this award is a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions.”
The Dix Hills, NY native joined the Hat Tricks in July of 2023 following his graduation from Syracuse University where he earned a B.S. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a minor in Sport Management. At ‘Cuse, Lattuca called games for the men’s (ACHA) and women’s (CHA) ice hockey teams and the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).
This award returns to Danbury for the second time in franchise history. The inaugural broadcast team of play-by-play broadcaster Casey Bryant and color commentators Zak McGinniss and Jack O'Marra took home the award for the 2019-20 season.
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 15th season during 2024-25.
