From The FPHL Department of Player Safety
Binghamton, NY – The FPHL Department of Player Safety today have announced the following suspensions follow the compltion of the leagues first weekend of play including exhibition.
Blur Ridge Bobcats Volf, SUSPENDED
Blue Ridge forward Jacob Volf has been suspended for One Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Exhibition Game No. EX1 in Wytheville, VA on Friday, October 11th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, " Mr. Volf jumping his unwilling opponent, the referees game report is quite damning. He jumped an opponent who was unwilling and unsuspecting and delivered/landed several punches to his opponent before the linesmen could intervene. This is an AGGRESSOR penalty an Mr. Volf will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME."
Monroe Mocassins Many Guns, SUSPENDED
Monroe forward Trygve Many Guns has been suspended for One Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Game No. 3 in Monroe, LA on Saturday, October 12th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "This is an aggressor. Mr. Many Guns opponent had zero initial interest in fighting after receiving a crosscheck. Mr. Many Guns took it upon himself to throw punches at his opponent's head that were designed to punish. His opponent was extremely lucky to have dodged the last roundhouse or this could have been an entirely different conversation. The fact that his opponent eventually defended himself has no bearing on the original actions. I appreciate how the officials took control early and assessed a differential to set the standard. Mr. Many Guns will be suspended ONE (1) Game for being the Aggressor"
Mississippi Sea Wolves Stacey, SUSPENDED
Mississippi Defenseman Andrew Stacey has been suspended for One Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Exhibition Game No. EX2 in Wytheville, VA on Saturday, October 12th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "I believe that the referees did an excellent job of determining guilt in this altercation. They acknowledged that Mr. Stacey's opponent was the first person to engage and prompted Mr. Stacey's participation. Both players fought even though it didn't work out too well for the BRB player. Mr. Stacey clearly won the fight but instead of stopping when he rendered his opponent defenseless, he continued to deliver at least six more punches, many of which were delivered as the linesman attempted to stop him. It is imperative to stop punishing your opponent when you clearly have the upper hand. Mr. Stacey will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME for AGGRESSOR."
Motor City Smith, SUSPENDED
Motor City forward Avery Smith has been suspended for One Game as a result from his actions during FPHL Exhibition Game No. EX3 in Fraser, MI on Saturday, October 13th. FPHL Director of Player Safety Dave Jackson stated, "Mr. Smith deserved his Game Misconduct penalty but I am rescinding the Instigator in last 5 minutes and changing it to an AGGRESSOR penalty. To call an instigator penalty there must be a fight for it to apply. There was no fight in Mr. Smith's case. He entered an altercation already in progress and grabbed a Port Huron player who was acting as a peace keeper because another MCR player was throwing punches on top of the pile. Mr. Smith yanked the PH player out of the scrum and punched him five times. It was clearly obvious from the PH player's body language that he did not want to fight. He repeatedly backpedaled and at one point raised his palms in a pacifying motion. There was no fight, Mr. Smith grabbed his opponent and punched him until the linesmen were able to intervene. This is an AGGRESSOR. Mr. Smith will be suspended for ONE (1) GAME."
The FPHL is a Single-A Minor Professional hockey league operating in its 15th season during 2024-25.
